Biography                    Bjørnar Bukholm

Alf Prøysen was a famous author and musician. He wrote for the most stories for children, however books for adults was also important for him. In addition to books, he has written many ballads, especially for Christmas time.
Prøysen was born July 23rd 1914, in a built-up area (of…) called Ringsaker. He grew up in a small house with his poor, but kind parents. As an adult he married a lady named Julie in 1907 who already had a child before they got a girl together.

During Prøysens childhood he loved painting, writing and performing plays. In other words he was devoted to make stories to the community. When he turned to become an adult and student it was difficult for the poor man to apply for a good job and earn enough money for his family. However Prøysen met a professor (name) who had been working with art and literature for many years. Those days led up to his future carrier were he began to write stories based on his life and the environment he lived in.

Some years later he came over a musician (name) who wanted to join Prøysen to make songs and ballads. In short words they succeeded in doing so, and every year many of his songs are being played during Christmas.

Prøysen died in an age of only 56, but he carried his dream off by making more than forty books, writing plays and famous songs, and also performing in radio. Some of his works has also been translated to other languages.

Prøysen was born July 23rd 1914, in a built-up area of Norway called Ringsaker. He grew up in a small house with his poor but kind parents. As an adult he married a woman named Julie in 1907 who already had a child before they had a girl together.
